Been spending most of my time in my studio recently but loved being in touristy haunts in London for the bank holiday weekend.  Sunday at Greenwich Observatory and then flying over the river on a cable car.  And Monday picnicking in Hyde Park.  The weather was mixed which made it all the more satisfying that it stayed dry and sunny for the times that we were outside.  I love London and it was extremely good to spend time with my family.  Here's a link to the observatory - highly recommend the planetarium: Greenwich Observatory and here is a link to the cable car  - had to queue but it was a bank holiday (and worth it even for a claustrophobic, height-hating non-queuer like me).

Here are a few pictures:

Loved Shaun Tan in conversation with Nicolette Jones at the British Library this evening.  Although I have long been an admirer of his books, I have never seen him before and have heard him described as modest, self-effacing and shy so I was surprised and pleased that he was able to speak so fluently, humorously and clearly about his life and work.

This was part of 'Wonderlands: A Festival of International Writing for Children' that is taking place over the weekend at the British Library

Here is a clip of Tan talking about his working methods in his small studio:

Here are pictures from 'Eric', still probably my favourite Shaun Tan book: http://gu.com/p/27jfa

And here is one more picture of Eric to make this page look nice:

The Fenners Building, where I have a studio provided by the Digswell Arts Trust, is finally up and running and it is wonderful to be working there.  Our official opening is on 7th September.  Please come and meet the artists and see the work if you would like to.  The weekend of the 8th/9th and of the 22rd/23rd the studios will also be open as part of Hertfordshire Open Studios.
